Subaru brakes: rear pads wear first
On the Subarus we see, rear brake pads and rotors need replacing more often than fronts, and the Forester is the model that comes in for brake work most. Because every Oil Change and Service includes pulling the wheels and measuring the pads, most of our Subaru brake work is caught at a routine visit rather than after a problem starts. If you’ve noticed a grinding or squeal, a pulse in the pedal, or a pull to one side when braking, tell us when you book and we’ll start there.

Wheel bearings and exhaust
Two jobs that show up regularly on Subarus: wheel bearing and hub assemblies, front and rear, and exhaust work including mufflers. A humming or growling noise that changes with speed, or gets louder when you turn one way, is the classic bearing symptom. A new rumble or a rattle underneath is usually exhaust. Describe the noise and when it happens, and we’ll diagnose it before recommending anything.
Tires and seasonal changeovers
Squamish Subarus live on winter tires half the year. We sell and install summer, winter and all-season tires, and we do seasonal changeovers whether your second set is on its own wheels or needs mounting and balancing. Customer-supplied tires are welcome (the tires themselves aren’t covered by our warranty). We don’t offer tire storage.

Maintenance, diagnostics and alignment
Our Oil Change and Service is the twice-a-year checkover we recommend for every Subaru. Between visits, we diagnose check-engine lights, warning messages, charging and starting problems, leaks, and steering or suspension concerns, and we do wheel alignments after suspension work or when tires wear unevenly.

Can you change over the winter tires I already own?
Yes. Tell us whether they’re on their own wheels or need mounting; that changes the job and the price.
My Subaru has a warning light and a message about EyeSight. Can you look at it?
Yes. Bring it in with the message and any change in how it drives. We’ll scan it and tell you what’s needed before any work is done.
How often should my Subaru get a checkover?
Twice a year. We recommend tying it to your spring and fall tire changeovers so the wheels are already off.
Can I get a price before I book?
Call with your year, model and the work you need. Tire and changeover prices are quick to quote; a noise or warning light usually needs a diagnostic visit first.
Do you work on older Subarus?
Yes. We see Subarus from the early 2000s through current models, including Legacy, Impreza and WRX.
